At AMI Education, we provide General English classes to improve both your academic and conversational English.

General English focuses on the four macro skills: listening, speaking, reading and writing. It teaches the use of English in a variety of situations and settings.

We also provide advanced academic English and IELTS preparation classes.

Class levels include pre-intermediate, intermediate, upper-intermediate and advance.

Course Quick Facts

Prerequisites

If you do not have an IELTS test score for the last 2 years, you will need to sit an English placement test at our school for us to determine your English level. The testing is FREE. It takes 1 hour and you are assessed at no charge.

Intake Dates &

Course Duration

General English weekly enrolment every Monday. Minimum 5 weeks enrolment.

IELTS Preparation - Any weekday. Minimum 1 week enrolment.

Academic English (Upper Intermediate & Advance)- 10 weeks each. For intake dates, click here.

Timetable

20 hours of face-to-face tuition each week (Monday – Friday 8.45am to 1pm). Additional English activities are available in the afternoon.

    Leading you into the day's topic
  • Reading:
    Reviewing newspapers, textbooks, advertisements and the internet
  • Writing:
    Practising graph analysis, diaries, reports, team writing, poetry, instructions, essays and running dictation
  • Listening:
    To tapes, CDs, television, DVDs and guest speakers
  • Speaking:
    Focusing on pronunciation, intonation, gestures and body language
  • Grammar:
    Practiced in speaking and writing exercises and grammar games
  • Excursions:
    Taking small trips to galleries, museums and other places of interest
  • Conversation:
    Performing role-plays, group discussions, interviews, surveys and board games
  • Regular assessment:
    A weekly test ensures you make progress in order to move to the next class level
