Overseas Health Cover

EMERGENCY MEDICAL TREATMENT
In circumstances where a student requires urgent medical treatment, AMI Education is authorised to arrange appropriate medical treatment in accordance with the advice of qualified medical practitioners.

HEALTH INSURANCE
Private health insurance is available for overseas students. As a condition of obtaining a Student Visa to study in Australia , international students are required to pay a health insurance fee known as the Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC).  OSHC may not however cover such items as ambulance services, dental and optometry.  Specialist services may be insured separately at the discretion of the student.  Students should investigate the coverage offered by the range of OSHC insurance policies to determine which best meets their requirements.

Students may organise their OSHC directly with any of the approved funds (online subscription is available) or if preferred AMI Education will organise insurance on their behalf.  Simply nominate your fund and level of cover on our application form.  (AMI Education offers this as a service to its students but does not represent any health fund in any way.)  Currently AMI Education offers to arrange for health cover with Medibank Private.  Below is a table detailing the cost of Medibank Private Student Health insurance. 

From August 21st, 2007 the following premiums apply to all new memberships which commence on or after 1 January 2008. These premiums will also apply to existing members who make a payment in 2008.
